YEEEEHAW!!

Woohoo!! Kyle and I just got back from the Medina County Fair, and they had just finished judging the needlework!! The results:

Coming in a disappointing 3rd place, the Hand-to-Hand Cardigan

The sweater that took first definitely deserved it - it was beautiful. The sweater that took second, though...big, floppy Lion Brand Homespun-type thing. Ah, well...

With a second place finish, the Cat's Paw Shawl

Not too bad, actually - considering the fact that it wasn't blocked, and I had to enter it in the Scarves category.

With 2 first place finishes, my Fingerless Gloves/Mittens

And my Dubbelmossa, entered in the Children's Category

But.....it gets better!!!! Look at this!!!!!!!!! Drum Roll, please....

My Baby Norgi took BEST IN SHOW!!!!

I almost fainted!! 5 items entered, and 5 ribbons!

i think i might have to disagree with you on the second place placement of the lion brand homespun floppy thing. having just done most of my tea cosy in that stuff (still have to sew the pieces together and put in the elastic for the top), working with it is an exercise in goodwill towards mankind (yarnkind?). it requires some patience, a little more patience, and just a soupçon of not getting annoyed when you split the yarn AGAIN.

oof. i don't know if i'll even knit cat toys out of what remains of that skein. maybe i'll just ball it up and make *that* a cat toy, although i suppose that sets bad precedent. :P

What a nice surprise it was to see a link to your page from Wendy's. I've been reading her blog because she lives in my area - and she's a great knitter. But I moved here from Medina recently, and feel a special place in my heart for all things Ohio. Congratulations on the ribbons! I'll be sure to stop by often.

Whoot! I'm glad I got to see the FO's in person at camp! I'm sad though that the Hand to Hand didn't do better...it is truly amazing, and you made great alterations to the pattern. Oh well, at least you got the rosette!!
