The child's cardigan took a second:
The Mimbres Vest took a second:
(The sweater that took first was absolutely stunning)

and the Laura's Rose Garden Shawl??
WOOHOO!!!! That's my second Best of Show in the last 3 years!! I couldn't believe it!! I was really disappointed in the way that it's displayed, though - you can't see it at all! Here's a better picture:

Last minute stuff

I finished the sweater for Ricki - just in time for the fair. The gloves? Maybe next year... :-)

The back

Yarn: Fleisher's Knitting Worsted 100% wool (from the Salvation Army store - I'd guess this yarn to be from the early 60's, but I'm having a hard time finding info about the company...they had a professional soccer team that folded in 1925, but that's all that I can find)
Pattern: my own - saddle shoulder aran done in the round
Buttons: white roses from my button stash

I'll get a picture of her wearing it the next time that I see her. She starts kindergarten next month, so she'll have a sweater for school.

I only have 3 fair entries this year, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Kevin's taking my entries to the fairgrounds on Sunday, since I'm going to be at Knitting Camp. :-)

I still don't have a contest entry...

Now I have to pack! My show-and-tell is going to be fairly boring this year; everything that I knit is either going to be at the fair, sent to KnitPicks, or given away. I printed pictures of everything, though, so at least I'll be able to show something.

My boarding passes are printed and my yarn and needles are packed, but I still have to pack my clothes. I'll have pictures from camp in a few days!!

SP10 revealed, and lottsa knitting!

I have a new cable modem, so everything *should* be running a little bit more reliably now!

I found out last week - my SP10 spoiler was April at It's a Left-Knit Life! Thanks, April - you were great! My spoilee (and she was lots of fun to spoil!) was Carolyn at Mimiwontonknits. I hope she had as much fun as I did!! :-)

Now for the knitting...

For Sabrina, a picture of the inside of the Mimbres before I mailed it:

I found out that it will be in the October catalog.

I started some projects for the fair; I have 2 weeks to finish. Kevin's going to take them to the fair grounds on the 29th...I'm going to be at Knitting Camp. It's going to be interesting to see if I can finish them in time. (I'm also entering the original Mimbres, and the Laura's Rose Garden Shawl). I'm making a pair of fingerless Fair Isle gloves from the Carol Rasmussen Noble book:

(I added an extra repeat of the bottom color pattern - they were too short) I'm using Jamieson & Smith Jumperweight.

This is what the inside looked like before I weaved in the ends:
It took me 1-1/2 days last week to get this far, and I haven't picked it up since. I'm hoping to be able to finish them...

For the Children's category, I'm designing a cabled cardigan that I'm hoping will fit my niece: I'll steek the front - I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do with the sleeves. (This is the yarn that I bought for 33 cents a ball at the Salvation Army - it's a very nice, soft wool, and it's not quite as bright as the picture looks).

And.....my next KnitPicks project has shown up. I can't remember what book this is from, but it's called the Ruth Jacket. I'm knitting it in Wool of the Andes - in blue and green, of course! :-) The pattern is very easy to follow and the colorwork pattern is pretty....

but whomever decided, long ago, that colorwork done back and forth is a good idea needs to be taken out back of the woodshed and dealt with severely. Boy, am I slow at purling in colorwork! (and, for the first time ever in my knitting history, my right wrist hurts). I have plenty of time to finish this, though - it's not due until August 9th. :-)

The Big Red "Square"

Remember the Big Red Square? The one that I was working on when I went to see the Yarn Harlot? Well, it's actually a rectangle (a placemat) and there were actually 2 of them...and they have made their appearance. They were part of a felting tutorial that KnitPicks is putting into their catalog, and they made a free pdf file which you can download here. (You can go to the felting tutorial page here and click on "machine felting")

Exciting, no? Yep, I thought so too.... :-)

Secret Pal - but not revealed!

I got my final package for Secret Pal 10 today! Look at the beautiful merino/corriedale roving that is now in my possession...

Isn't it gorgeous? And speaking of gorgeous - look at all of the stitch markers that she sent!!When I separated them :I'm addicted to pretty stitch markers - these will be put to good use! She also sent a nice little bottle of Lavender/Chammomile body wash.

The return address on the box says that my secret pal is named April, and she's from South Carolina. Other than that, I don't have a clue who she is! :-(

I sent out my final box to my secret pal on Saturday afternoon - she should have it tomorrow or Thursday (because of the holiday). The box that I sent her weighs 5 pounds - I hope that she likes everything! I'll tell you who she is when she receives her final box.

Check out the new front page of the KnitPicks website: I knit that sock! :-) (It's 2 pictures of the same sock) Too cool...
